Hot Picks This Week

Tower Bridge London

Don’t you feel sorry for November? We tend to overlook it and treat it as a sort of month long run-in to Christmas. Not here at Hot Picks. Check out what’s hot in November this week.

Festivals: London Stories Made By Migrants. Actual migrants telling true stories about their struggle to leave their home countries. An immersive event where you will be separated from the people you attended with and encouraged to make new friends as you move from room to room hearing their personal accounts. On at Battersea Arts Centre till Nov 26.

Exhibitions: David Lurie: Writing the City. This exhibition of large-scale photographs documents Cape Town’s marginalised unemployed and working poor. The Sulger-Buel Lovell Gallery until 16 Dec 2016. Free entry.

Films: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. If you didn’t get a golden ticket to the Leicester Square premiere a few days ago that’s no problem because this J.K. Rowling penned movie has timed its release to soak up the Christmas season. The kids will soon be dragging you off to the nearest cinema.

Clubs: Coffin Dodgers Disco. Any further explanation needed! No under 28 year olds permitted  to this mash up of 70s, 80s and 90s pop disco and indie. And if you’re wondering why the age restriction starts at 28 you’ll no doubt stumble across the answer to that while grooving the night away to the likes of T-Rex and Soft Cell – that is, if you’re old enough to get in. The Phoenix, Marylebone. Friday Nov 25. £7/8

Family Attractions: Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. Its festive attractions include ice skating, Zippos Christmas Circus and the Magical Ice Kingdom. Join our own HOT IN LONDON‘s meet up group his Friday Nov 25.
